About This Grant
Restaurants Care, a nonprofit program of the California Restaurant Foundation, is partnering with SoCalGas, PG&E, and SDG&E to offer resilience grants to independent restaurants at the heart of our communities. The Restaurants Care Resilience Fund has awarded grants to more than 2,050 California restaurants. Restaurants Care was created in 2017 as a safety net for food and beverage workers.

- Employment information – address and contact information of employer
- Explanation of crisis – description of what happened and the impact
- Estimated monthly expenses
- Current paystub
- Proof of residency in California (upload one of the following: utility bill, cell phone bill, rent or mortgage statement)
- Death in the family - upload death certificate, obituary, funeral expenses
- Illness or injury - upload doctor’s note or medical bill
- Housing disaster - upload photo or insurance claim
- Natural disaster - upload photo or insurance claim
Eligibility Requirements
- Restaurants Care provides a safety-net for food and beverage workers experiencing one of the following crisis within the last 3 months: injury, illness, death in the immediate family, or a housing disaster such as fire or flood.
- Circumstances we do not fund: unemployment, credit card debt, incidences that occurred more than 3 months ago, non-CA workers
- Currently work in food or beverage service at a California restaurant, food truck, tasting room, brewery, catering company, restaurant in a hotel or hospitality venue/concessions
- The unexpected crisis or incident needs to have occurred within three (3) months of application date
- Types of crises we help with illness, injury, accident, death in the immediate family, disaster (housing, flood, fire, earthquake)
