About This Grant
The Breva Thrive Grant is a quarterly $5,000 grant program that provides catalytic funding to early‑stage and growing U.S. small businesses that are generating positive, measurable impact in their communities, with particular interest in those serving underrepresented or historically underserved areas.
Each quarterly cycle has its own deadline:
- Q1 Application Close: January 31
- Q2 Application Close: April 30
- Q3 Application Close: July 31
- Q4 Application Close: October 31
How You Can Use the Funds
- Per the rules, funds must be used to advance the business mission or its stated community‑impact goals, such as:
- • Equipment purchases
- • Hiring
- • Product development
- • Targeted outreach or similar business‑building activities
- Funds may not be used for:
- • Personal expenses
- • Political contributions
- • Repayment of unrelated personal debt
Documents Required
- Applicants must complete the online application and upload all required documentation specified in the Breva application form, and awardees must provide a Grant Agreement, W‑9, and ACH information.
Eligibility Requirements
- For‑profit entity, legally formed and in good standing in any U.S. state, D.C., or U.S. territory.
- Principal place of business and funded activities must be in the United States.
- At least 12 months of operations is strongly preferred.
- Businesses with less than 12 months can still apply but must show strong early traction or clear potential for near‑term impact.
- Business must have generated commercial revenue prior to applying.
- Must demonstrate clear, trackable benefit to its community (e.g., job creation, access to essential goods/services, innovation, making products/services more accessible).
- There is a strong preference for businesses directly impacting high‑need ZIP codes or LMI census tracts and those benefiting historically underserved communities (while the selection process itself is race‑ and gender‑neutral).
- Business must be formed under U.S. law and operating within the U.S.
- Ineligible if principal activities involve lobbying, partisan political work, adult entertainment, cannabis, firearms, gambling, any operation violating applicable law; entities in bankruptcy; or entities unwilling to comply with Breva’s data‑security requirements.
