About This Grant
The City of Corona has appropriated $600,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to support small businesses to respond to the negative economic impacts of COVID-19 and to reinvigorate local economic recovery.
This Grant funding will be allocated throughout the city of Corona, to eligible applicants who meet the qualifications, provide the requested documentation, agree to the terms of funding, and provide receipts for eligible expenses until the funding is expended.
There are two award programs:
Entrepreneur Grant Program
This program supports small business operations with four (4) or fewer FTE employees. Eligible grantees must have a physical, home-based, OR commercial operation within the Corona city limits. Funds can be utilized to support business operations.
To be eligible for funding, the business must be in operation in the city of Corona. Please note there are areas of unincorporated Riverside County with a Corona mailing address.
Small Business Grant Program
This program supports small business operations with (5) five to (25) twenty-five FTE employees. Eligible grantees must have a physical, commercial operation within Corona city limits. (Home-based businesses are not eligible.)
To be eligible for funding, the business must be in operation in the city of Corona. Please note there are areas of unincorporated Riverside County with a Corona mailing address.
How You Can Use the Funds
- Awards are based on eligible, reimbursable expenses.
- Businesses must be able to show proof of how funds were spent to qualify.
- Employee payroll
- Inventory and utilities
- General operating expenses, such as certification or license fees & PPE equipment are also eligible.
Documents Required
- Receipts and/or documentation must be uploaded in the application prior to funding approval.
- Signed W-9 form. A 1099 will be issued by January 31, 2024, to all awardees, in the amount of the total award.
- Valid and current city of Corona Business License
- Payroll Register (to prove employee count, unless you have no employees)
- 2022 full Federal Tax Returns (Fully Executed)
- Receipts up to or over $5,000 for expenses under the Entrepreneur Program or receipts up to over $10,000 for expenses under the Small Business Program
- Business Bank Routing Information (Bank name, name on account, account type (checking or savings), account number and routing number – to be uploaded through our secure site)
Eligibility Requirements
- For Entrepreneur Grant Program:
- Private, for-profit business
- Business must have been operating in Corona on or before January 1, 2022
- Up to date on required licenses and permits
- Proof of home or office/building lease with business address
- Recipients must have been affected by the COVID-19 public health emergency, including a reduction in revenue, layoffs, or voluntary and involuntary forced closures.
- For Small Business Grant Program:
- Private, for-profit business
- Business must have been operating in Corona by January 1, 2022
- Up to date on required licenses and permits
- Proof of lease or grant deed, with businesses address
- Revenue cap of no more than $1 million in annual revenue for 2022 Federal Tax reporting
- Recipients must have been affected by the COVID-19 public health emergency, including a reduction in revenue, layoffs, or voluntary and involuntary forced closures.
