About This Grant

The RENOVATE Façade Improvement Program is a County-funded initiative from the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity that provides grants for strategic storefront upgrades to small businesses in historically disinvested areas countywide. Through design and construction services, RENOVATE helps improve the look, safety, and accessibility of commercial storefronts and revitalize commercial corridors.

Eligible improvements include new, repair, or replacement of signs, restoring exterior finishes and materials, window and door repair and replacement, exterior sign lighting, canopies and awnings, decorative façade elements, exterior painting, ADA-compliant entrances, and storefront securitization (roll downs and grills). Building projects with multiple storefronts are eligible.

Priority corridors: Whittier Blvd (East LA), Central Ave (Florence-Firestone), Vermont Ave (West Athens/Westmont), Van Nuys Blvd (Pacoima), Pacific Blvd (Huntington Park), and S Lake Ave, Lincoln Ave, and Fair Oaks Ave (Altadena). Projects in incorporated cities are considered case by case and may require a city funding match.

Business commitment: Participating property owners must sign a grant agreement and recorded maintenance covenant to maintain the improvements for 10 years from the grant date. If the property changes hands, the new owner assumes the same obligations.

Interested applicants should submit the interest form; no deadline is currently posted.
